Barcelona, Spain
When Michelin-starred chef Ismael Torres renovated his Barcelona home, he wanted a kitchen that was not only functional but full of soul. He turned to Handmade Copper to bring warmth and tradition into a modern culinary space.
The Artisan Touch
The centerpiece? A deep hammered copper sink, handcrafted in Morocco using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Paired with a custom copper range hood, the pieces gave the space an earthy glow and a unique personality.
“It reminds me of my grandmother’s kitchen,” Ismael said, “but it’s elevated — refined. There’s nothing sterile about it.”
Why Copper?
Copper isn’t just beautiful — it’s practical. Naturally antibacterial, easy to maintain, and endlessly durable, it’s a material built for the rhythm of a chef’s daily life.
“Every mark tells a story. It ages like wine,” Ismael added.
A Kitchen Worth Sharing
Since completing the project, the kitchen has been featured in several design magazines and serves as a backdrop for Ismael’s private cooking classes. Guests often ask where the copper came from.
“It always starts a conversation,” he says. “And that’s what food — and design — should do.”
